A WALK FOR EDUCATION
The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is pleased to announce that A Walk For Education (AWFE) program will be taking place on Saturday, February 26, 2022. AWFE is an event hosted by the NSBE at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in which members of NSBE-UCF hand out information on colleges, scholarship information, ACT/SAT preparation tools, as well as NSBE and the field of STEM to students in the community. This year the theme of our event is “Dream Job”. The goal is for students to be exposed to a variety of industries within STEM and understand that they have the option to pursue these careers if they aspire to. A schedule of the event is listed below.
Join NSBE- UCF to increase the awareness of the opportunities available through education particularly in the STEM fields aiming towards African Americans and to ignite a desire for minority students to join STEM and know about the resources available to them to help further their education.
For this section of our event, students and attendees will leave the center in groups and go on a journey around the Dr. James R. Smith Neighborhood Center. The groups will be learning about the African American Alumni that contributed and the drive that got them to be where they are now. This UCF tour will raise awareness that “STEM is for all” and that “No one Should Be Excluded”
The goal at the end of the walk is that students will have acquired all the necessary information and they will be equipped with the resources to help them further their education.
All are welcome to participate!
